Competing wearing a gi

Competing wearing a giA gi is the traditional kimono used in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu with a belt.

The gi is used during training to develop balance, timing, leverage, grips and submissions.

Jiu Jitsu Dynamix also has sessions with ‘no gi’, where rashies and shorts are worn instead.

Training without a gi makes it more difficult to grip an opponent, enhancing other important skills such as timing, leverage, pinning and wrestling.
